"Notions of beauty and identity are challenged as the question of “who I am” is re-defined through the lens of a multi-generational cast of AfroLatina women."

 SYNOPSIS

In a picturesque, performative style documentary, Director/ Founder/Filmmaker Omilani Alarcón combines the arts, music, and reflective voice-overs as echoes of the journey to seek one’s inner- “beautiful”.

A multi-generational cast of women confront and embrace the challenges of being Black and Latina in the United States and Caribbean, ultimately finding what makes them beautiful, resilient, and love the skin they are in.

You will find yourself laughing, crying, and enlightened by the roller coaster of thought-provoking yet delightful accounts of what it was like growing up Black and Latina. This is a story that relates to anyone who has ever wondered or questioned who they are.

Audiences will be delighted by scenes starring a phenomenal cast of women such as Yvonne & Yvette Rodriguez, the women behind the brand Tres Lindas Cubanas, the only Black woman

Cigar line in the United States; Deborah Magdalena, Founder of the Spoken Soul Festival and actress/performer, known for appearances on Strip Tease (1996), Safe Harbor (1999) and

Holy Man (1998) and For Love or Country: the Arturo Sandoval Story, for example; poet Isaida Ortiz; lawyer and philanthropist Olivia Benson; artist Niki Lopez; as well as social media bloggers Boriqua Chicks and Ain’t I Latina?

Latinegras® made its worldwide previewed in Seville, Spain in November 2017 and made its Worldwide debut in March of 2018 at the Miami Film Festival. Songstress/Neo Soul singer Omilani will release the title track “Latinegra” in 2018.
